My father is 79 years old and is a patient in a nursing home. He was a once strong man and pastor and now battles with Alzheimer’s. When I visit him, sometimes he recognizes who I am and sometimes he doesn’t. He may recognize my two-year old son and not recognize me at all. With his now limited mental capacity, there isn’t much that I would assume that my father would comprehend, but I am 100% certain that when I tell him that Memphis hired Tubby Smith that he will respond.

Tubby Smith Agrees To Deal With Tigers; Deal Is Official

Thursday morning it was reported by Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com that former Texas Tech head coach Tubby Smith has accepted the offer from Memphis to become head coach. The reigning Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year, left Memphis last night without a completed deal but overnight has come to a resolution. The 25-year coach won a national championship with Kentucky in 1998 and is only the second coach all-time to take five different schools to the NCAA tournament. A proven tactician and X and O coach, Smith now comes to the Tiger’s with a ton of credentials at his disposal.

Tigers Have Eyes For Tubby But Deal Is Not Done

Wednesday morning it was reported by several sources that current Texas Tech head coach Tubby Smith was at the top of Memphis’ short list of candidates and that a formal offer had been made to the reigning Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year. The 25-year coach won a national championship with Kentucky in 1998 and is only the second coach all-time to take five different schools to the NCAA tournament.
